Jean Paul Blais does not seek to raise an idea, or to describe. Only the creative act is essential to transmit to the matter the fruit of his meditation, of his mental voyage. An act that is each time reinvented through new dialogues with the matter. Under the title: "The Silence of Thought", Blais currently exposes a series of his fascinating reliefs at LKFF Art & Sculpture Projects.

Why this single title for all his pieces? The artist replies, “It is what I have always used. I would like my work to bring a sense of peacefulness, of tranquility. That one's mind is eased while one lets silence settle. I enjoy the moment when the spirit is surprised and suspended. The stake of my art is to bring the person back towards his inner self, towards serenity.”

Opening Exhibition Dé-coll/age - The Art of Wolf Vostell - Verbeke Foundation - 14.04.2012, 17.00

NL Van 14 april tot en met 29 juli 2012 organiseert de Verbeke Foundation de eerste grote tentoonstelling in België rond de Duitse kunstenaar Wolf Vostell (1932-1998). Vostell was één van de hoofdfiguren uit de 20ste-eeuwse kunstgeschiedenis. In de jaren '50 was hij één van de eerste kunstenaars om te experimenteren met de decollagetechniek. Bovendien was hij in die tijd ook één van de pioniers inzake videokunst. Hij was een stichtend lid van de fluxus beweging en introduceerde de happening in Europa. Vostell realiseerde een groot aantal fluxus performances, concerten en opera's in de hele wereld. Hij werd bekend met zijn environment-sculpturen en de beelden van objecten die hij in beton goot (zoals auto's, treinen, ...). De tentoonstelling gaat dieper in op Vostells concept van visuele en geluidsde-coll/age, waaraan hij zijn hele bestaan wijdde. In het collagemuseum van de Verbeke Foundation is een unieke selectie te zien van de belangrijkste werken uit de verzameling van het Museo Vostell Malpartida (Spanje), alsook een belangrijk aantal affiches van zowat 200 solotentoonstellingen die georganiseerd werden tijdens Vostells leven. Collages, assemblages, geluidsinstallaties en video's bieden meer inzicht in het (de-)constructieproces dat aan de basis lag van zijn oeuvre. FR La Verbeke Foundation organise du 14 avril au 29 juillet 2012 la première exposition majeure en Belgique de l'artiste allemand Wolf Vostell (1932-1998). Vostell constitue l'une des figures majeures de l'histoire de l'art du XXe siècle. Parmi les premiers à pratiquer la technique du décollage dans les années 1950, il joue également à la même époque un rôle de pionnier dans le domaine de l'art vidéo. Acteur essentiel du mouvement fluxus, il introduit le happening en Europe et réalise d'innombrables performances, concerts et opéras fluxus dans le monde entier. Connu pour ses sculptures-environnements, Vostell est également devenu célèbre par ses sculptures d'objets coulés dans le béton (automobiles, train, etc...). L'exposition se concentre sur le concept de dé-coll/age visuel et sonore auquel Vostell consacra toute son existence. Dans le musée des collages de la Verbeke Foundation est ainsi présentée une sélection unique des plus importantes oeuvres de la collection du Museo Vostell Malpartida (Espagne) ainsi qu'un important choix d'affiches des quelques 200 expositions personnelles organisées du vivant de Vostell. Maarten De Ceulaer: Salone Del Mobile 2012, Milan, Italy Mutation Series   The pieces in this series look like they weren’t made by hands, but have grown to their present form organically. They might be the result of a mutation in cells, or the result of a chemical or nuclear reaction. Perhaps it’s a virus or bacteria that has grown dramatically out of scale. The Mutation pieces make you look at furniture in a different way. Maybe one day we would be able to grow a piece of furniture like we breed or clone an animal, and manipulate it’s shape like a bonsai tree. The project can be seen as an experimental review of classic furniture upholstery. It reminds us of the famous and iconic deep buttoned (Chesterfield) sofa's, interpreted in a highly contemporary and sculptural way. Instead of upholstering springs and foam with leather or textile, these pieces are created by carefully composing patterns with cut-offs of foam spheres of various sizes, and applying them onto a structure. In the end the entire piece gets coated, with a durable rubber or tactile velvet-like finish. Hierbij  nodig ik je uit voor de zevende editie van de kunstroute leuven(29-30april, 1 mei).
In mijn atelier laat ik zien hoever het staat met de restauratie van het monumentale beeld van Caiius Civilis waaraan ik bezig ben.
Speciaal dit jaar stellen mijn leerlingen van de afdeling steen-beeld van de Academie Anderlecht ook hun werken tentoon.

En collaboration avec la commune de Molenbeek-Saint-Jean, l'Atelier 340 Muzeum vous invite à l'inauguration de cette commande publique réalisée en basaltlava par Georg Hüter (DE), le jeudi 19 avril à 10h30 sur l'esplanade de la maison communale de Molenbeek-Saint-Jean (station de métro Comte de Flandre)
